Ryan Abell

Ryan Abell leads Chatham’s Real Estate Defeasance and Prepayment team, focusing on processing defeasance transactions and improving the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of hedging operations. Prior to his current role, Ryan was a senior consultant in Chatham’s defeasance and prepayment practice, where he strategically guided clients through hundreds of defeasance and prepayment transactions totaling over $10 billion in principal. His experience comprised single-loan, portfolio, and bond defeasances and prepayments, including some of the largest defeasances in history by loan amount.

Ryan serves as an advisory committee member for the Mortgage Bankers Association’s young professionals network, mPact, and is a graduate of Bucknell University with a bachelor’s degree in economics and a minor in English and creative writing.
